Update on the Class of 2020 July 25th In-Person Graduation Ceremony

Dear Fife Class of 2020, Families, and Community;

We have waited as long as possible to make any decision around our tentatively planned July 25th, in-person graduation ceremony. With families and students needing to make plans for the summer, we targeted the end of June to make this decision.

As you probably are aware, COVID cases are on the increase, especially in Pierce and King counties. Several days ago Governor Inslee mandated masks in all public spaces and placed a delay on counties moving to phase 4. In consultation with the Fife school board, the county health department, and assessing COVID numbers in our county, unfortunately, we must cancel the July 25th graduation ceremony.

While extremely disappointed in this news, we can’t express enough how thrilled we were last weekend to see so many families, friends, and staff members out in the community supporting our graduates as they caravaned through Fife, Milton, and Edgewood. What an exciting day, and we were so proud of how our graduates and our community conducted themselves. Thank you all for your support for the class of 2020! We also hope you enjoyed the video graduation ceremony, which will continue to be accessible on our Class of 2020 Celebration Website.

Please again accept our personal, warmest congratulations on a job well done, Class of 2020.

You have made us all very proud!

Respectfully,

Kevin Alfano
