Welcome to the SLMS Counseling Center. Our goal is to support students as they  achieve academic success and social-emotional well-being.   We work to help families reduce barriers to student success.  You are encouraged to view the “Helpful Information” links below to familiarize yourself with various topics and resources.

Give us a call or email us if you need assistance.

Success tip: Use your child’s student ID number to monitor student progress on Grade Checker.  This tool, found on the SLMS website, is updated by teachers on a weekly basis.  A follow up email to teachers may be helpful if parents need clarification.   Don't forget to look at teacher websites.  They provide valuable course descriptions and class assignments.

Children Learn What They Live

If a child lives with criticism, He learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, He learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule, He learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame, He learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance, He learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement, He learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise, He learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness, He learns justice.
If a child lives with security, He learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval, He learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
He learns to find love in the world.
